So I just finished a re-watch up through season 4 of Breaking Bad (I have not yet watched even a single episode of season 5, so please do not say a spoiler to me), and the thing that impressed upon me the most was the fact that Hank is basically the best character?

Like, it’s very easy for everyone (characters and audience alike) to underestimate Hank because he’s a bellowing blowhard windbag, but the fact is, he’s like impeccably, infallibly good at his job. When he gets sent to El Paso after his shootout with Tuco, you think, “Jeez, he fell ass-backwards into a promotion.” Well, yes and no. You then find out that despite the fact that running across Tuco was an accident, he’s basically right about every single other thing he thinks about, and he would have busted shit wide open if Walt weren’t actively working against him.

The show kind of mashes up the traditional cat and mouse game with the jock-nerd dichotomy, only the jock-cat thinks he’s best friends with the nerd-mouse, and that’s kind of amazing?

Anyway, Breaking Bad is the best show. Please do not spoil me on season 5.
